MINI Cooper Coupe comes in 4 different (engine) variants including the range-topping John Cooper Works edition
Official details on the upcoming MINI Coupé have been
released by BMW Group - a model whose handling the German automaker
describes as having a "go-kart feeling". Unfortunately, the photos MINI
has included with this release show a prototype still covered with
camouflage.
Dimensions-wise, the MINI Coupé is 3,728 mm long and comes with a
wheelbase measuring 2,467 mm. The front track is 1,459 mm wide and
rear-axle track comes in a width of 1,467 mm.
And MINI isn't going to tease-out the Coupé's range-topping variant
either - as we get details too on the John Cooper Works (JCW) edition as
well as on the MINI Cooper S Coupé.
The range-topper JCW comes with a 1.6 liter turbocharged unit with an
output of 155 kW/211 PS (207 bhp) and 280 Nm (207 lb-ft) of peak torque
with an overboost function (260 Nm/192 lb-ft without). The MINI John
Cooper Works Coupé makes it up to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.4 seconds and
has a top speed of 240 km/h (149 mph). Fuel consumption is 7.1
liters/100 km (39.8 mpg imp) with a CO2 emissions quotient of 165 g/km.
Wheels fitted are 17-inch light alloys in John Cooper Works Cross Spoke
CHALLENGE styling.
The MINI Cooper S Coupé has a 1.6 liter turbo unit that features 135 kW/184 PS (181 bhp) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque.
After that, output level sinks quickly to the base-variant MINI
Cooper Coupé which comes with a 1.6 liter unit delivering 90 kW/122 PS
(121 bhp) and 160 Nm (118 lb-ft) of torque.
But there is also a diesel offering here - the MINI Cooper SD Coupé
with a 2.0 liter diesel power plant good for an output of 105 kW/143 PS
(141 bhp) and 305 Nm (225 lb-ft) of torque.
Besides the standard 6-speed manual transmission, an optional
six-speed automatic is available on all variants except the MINI JCW
Coupé.
